About the Doctor

Dr. HoopsDr. Carissa Hoops is a Beatrice native and a 2000 graduate of Beatrice High School. She was involved in sports and 4-H while she lived in Beatrice, as well as many volunteer activities. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Biopsychology. She was involved in many campus activities such as being a Resident Assistant and playing in the symphonic band. While at Nebraska Wesleyan, Carissa was in a horse accident and badly injured her neck. A chiropractor told her that if she had compressed the vertebrae any more, she would have broken her neck. He helped her recover from this accident and told her about the benefits of chiropractic care. Doctor Hoops attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, following her undergraduate studies. Palmer was the first chiropractic school in the world. While at Palmer, Doctor Hoops was able to go to India as part of a group that adjusted over 1600 people during this trip abroad. Doctor Hoops gained a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge while on this trip. In addition to traveling abroad to increase her clinical skills, Dr. Hoops did an internship with a doctor in Moline, Illinois. Here she gained many hours of hands-on and practical training. She graduated Cum Laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in June 2007 with a Doctorate of Chiropractic degree. She specializes in spinal and extremity adjusting utilizing manual techniques, Activator (low force), and flexion distraction (low back). During her time at Palmer, she married Brian Hoops. They moved to Pickrell in August of 2007.
