Swedish massage combines traditional eastern healing techniques along with a scientific system of activity to the soft tissue structure of the body. Patti uses the soothing stones to aid in relaxing tight muscles and adds Deep Tissue on the back, shoulders and neck. Benefits are relaxation, relief of pain and discomfort associated with chronic muscle tension, increased circulation, relieve stiff joints, relieve pain from some forms of paralysis, sciatica, fractures, sprains and overworked muscles, and to promote well being.
Deep tissue massage is a form of Swedish massage in addition to the above strokes the practitioner may use elbows, forearms, even knees in order for client to receive one of the deepest most therapeutic massages possible for the neck and back. This therapy warms and spreads the fascia surrounding the muscles to enhance freedom of movement. To encourage the release of deep tension the restricted points are then massaged. This is a great massage if experiencing headaches and shoulder tension due to stress.
The best of both of the above therapies. Swedish Massage to relax the muscles followed by Deep Tissue work to encourage the release of deep tension most of us carry in the neck and shoulders.
This is the ultimate in relaxation massage. Combining penetrating heat from smooth heated river stones with relaxing massage techniques. The warmth of the river stones leaves you feeling totally relaxed, it soothes your soul, and leaves you with a wonderful sense of well being. Do not plan any heavy mental or physical exertion after this massage.
Body buff is applied to areas to be exfoliated, then rubbed off using mechanical friction. Residue is washed off, hydrating lotion applied, and treatment ends with Body Butter massaged into the skin with a Swedish Massage. Great treatment for winter dry skin.
Skin is exfoliated gently with boar bristle brush, essential oils are applied to the body, client is wrapped in layers to allow oils to penetrate the body. Treatment ends with Swedish massage.
The oldest known form of physical therapy. It releases tension through pressure applied to muscles and accupressure points of the body. Improves circulation to the areas being treated. Face treatment often called Shiatsu Facelift.
The rising acceptance of alternative health care in the U.S. has brought about a surge of interest in healing touch that has made therapeutic massage the 2nd most popular alternative health modality in the country. The profession of massage therapy and related bodywork has become very sophisticated, knowledge is required in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology. Technical skills are needed in pathology, medications, record keeping, communication skills as well as in massage techniques.
Why Massage?According to Dr. Andrew Weil, a leading authority on alternative health care in the United States, Americans are touch deprived. The desire for physical contact is an instinctive and physiologic need for well being. Most Americans lead hectic lives and few take time to think of their own well being. The name of my business comes from these ideas. Para in this instance means beyond, "beyond touch". My hope is that through my touch, in the form of therapeutic massage clients will experience; relief from the pain of tight muscles, a respite from stress, an awareness of the things that put our bodies in stress, or an increased sense of well being in a safe professional environment.
Studies at the University of Miami School of Medicine Touch Research Institute have shown that massage has the following benefits:
Research is currently being done on the effects of massage in diseases such as cystic fibrosis; childhood irritable bowel syndrome; arthritis in the elderly; coma and spinal cord injuries (to upgrade circulation and retard muscle atrophy); helping cerebral palsy victims gain muscle flexibility; and to reduce the formation of scar tissue after breast surgery as well as to reduce anxiety, depression, and cortisone levels associated with breast surgery.
